Doors of Sat Lok
13-3/4" x 17-1/4"
This piece taught me the difference between visions of artwork that is possible
and visions of work that must be manifested. The
latter are accompanied by the energy and inspiration needed to manifest them.
“Doors
of Sat Lok” happened more easily and effortlessly than any artwork I'd done
previously although, like all my pieces, it had unique technical and design
details to work out. For example,
how could I make sea and sky both yellow, yet distinct geographical bodies?
Also, whenever I look out over an ocean horizon, it always feels as
though the ocean goes on forever and the sky is close enough to touch.
I tried to recreate this feeling by making the sky’s texture more
prominent.
I
also enjoyed experimenting with a concentration of color and texture in a
relatively small area, as you see in the foreground gardens.
