The Path
We Travel
28" x 34"
Currently on display at the Eckankar Temple
of Connecticut
In December 1999, I began to see an old friend, Robert Morton, in a new
light. About a
year later, I began this piece as a tribute to our feelings for each other.
Our relationship has taught me more about love and the process of growing
love, than my previous twenty years of two marriages.
We are finding this path of love leads through rocky ground at times, but
keeping the attention on love keeps the path as smooth as can be.
It also helps to remember how rare and precious love really is, and how
easily it can slip through your fingers if you don't care enough for it.
I
believe our relationship is strong because we share common spiritual goals,
which include service to life. As we
are both members of the clergy, I felt it significant that the temple depicted
in this artwork be the temple of our church, whose rooftop is a familiar
landmark on the horizon in Chanhassen
,
Minnesota.
This is
the path we travel. Yet it also
represents the journey that others take, especially those who love God.
The size
of the unframed portion of this piece is significant, it is 28" x 22".
. The
number 28 is Bob’s birthdate, and 22 is mine.
