Twin
Rivers
19" x 15-3/4"
This piece was born on my 37th birthday.
In it I wanted to impart my feelings about life and the essence of all
the awareness I’d gained thus far. It
was to be a personal expression of who I was at that time.
I began by opening all my
boxes of yarn and choosing those colors that called to me.
These I placed on the table. From them I
picked up the color that appealed to me most.
I had no idea what the artwork would look like.
I just began to crochet one tiny freeform shape after another. Once I had
enough pieces made, I put them on the canvas.
As if they were alive, they seemed to know how they wanted to be placed
in relationship to each other. As
the artwork took shape, my thoughts were that I wanted to impart as much beauty as I
could. For example--and you can’t
see it very well in the photograph--but the piece is strewn with strings of
shiny tiny blue beads. This was the
finishing touch.
"Twin Rivers" can be hung
horizontally or vertically.
